Physical Therapy | Ballantyne | Pr1me Movement | Can I Work Out With A Torn Labrum?

{ Can I Workout If I Have A Torn Labrum?}

Thank you Karen for a great inquiry and question! ? I’m sure she’s not the ONLY one who has this concern!

The cliff note version here is that regarding the shoulder, the biceps can “take over,” and do an excessive amount of work

They try to “act” like a rotator cuff, but the reality is they aren’t meant to do the work as a rotator cuff muscle would.

I like to joke with my clients that the biceps are the 18 year old trying to get into the bar…

They may want to go in and act like they’re 21, but they’re not lol.

Therefore we have to kick them out and only allow the muscles that NEED to be working do their job.

and YES, she can get back to working out overhead.

Just needs to follow a simple recipe

Relieve the Pain

Justify pain free range of motion

Gradually start lifting overhead.

Feel free to leave any questions below that I too can answer!
